Deep Sran Announces Campaign for Congress in VA-10
Democratic Educator Will Bring A New Approach to Washington
ASHBURN -- Teacher, school founder, and tech entrepreneur Deep Sran launched his campaign to represent Virginia’s 10th Congressional District with a video announcement today in which he promised to bring a new approach to Washington.
“My parents came to this country more than 50 years ago because they saw in America what I see every day in my students: reasons to be optimistic about the future. Their experience showed that if you work hard, you will have a fair chance and a voice in America. This promise is fading because our representatives in Washington are failing us.
“I’m running for Congress because I want to work to restore the promise of a better future for all Americans. I know that’s a big goal, but I also know it is within reach if we work together with open minds and better ideas.. I’ll focus on finding the best ways to fulfill this promise through education, better democratic processes, and a commitment to confronting and solving problems, rather than ignoring them or limiting myself to a narrow set of tired, ideologically-driven ideas.”
A lifelong educator and innovator, Deep has spent the majority of his career focused on his true passion - teaching our children. After attending public schools his entire life and working briefly as a corporate attorney, he founded Loudoun School for the Gifted, which empowers its students to dream big and to be ready for whatever the future holds. Most recently, Deep has garnered national attention for his work to restore the Ashburn Colored School, a historic schoolhouse that served African-American students during segregation.
He co-founded Actively Learn, an education technology company, to create a literacy platform which helps promote better thinking as students read for class.
In his school, his company, and his community, Deep has worked to ensure that our children - the future leaders of America - have access to the resources and skills they need to solve the problems of tomorrow. And to ensure that they go into the future with real optimism about what is possible.
Deep, his wife Anjili, and their two daughters live in Ashburn.
In the months ahead, Deep will be speaking with people from across the district about the changes they want to see, so that we can build a better future for this great country together.
