Deep Sran Statement on Trump National Voter Suppression Program
Congressional candidate calls data request "subversive to democracy"
ASHBURN -- Teacher, tech entrepreneur, and candidate for Virginia's 10th Congressional District Deep Sran released the following statement today in response to the Election Integrity Commission's request for highly sensitive data from all 50 states' voter registration files.
"This is just another step in Donald Trump's insidious program to prevent Americans from exercising their most fundamental right - the right to vote. We should be making it easier to vote, not harder. Studies agree - voter fraud very rarely happens. An American is more likely to be struck by lightning than to commit voter fraud.
"This action doesn't solve a problem, it creates one. This will allow the federal government to stop Virginians from having their voices heard, plain and simple. Making it harder to vote is subversive to democracy. I stand with Governor McAuliffe in opposing this drastic overreach, and I'm calling on Barbara Comstock to do the same."
