Deep Sran Statement On Senate Health Care Vote

Congressional Candidate Condemns Bills As "Ruthless"

ASHBURN – Educator, entrepreneur, and Democratic candidate for Virginia's 10th Congressional District Deep Sran responded to the Senate passing the motion to proceed to consideration of Affordable Care Act repeal by releasing the following statement.

"Today's vote proves that the Senate Republicans' threat to our health care is real and dangerous. Although no one other than Mitch McConnell knows which ruinous version of Affordable Care Act repeal is on the table, what we do know is this: tens of millions of Americans will lose coverage if any of these bills pass.

"Instead of fighting to lower premiums and protect the millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions -- including 331,000 in our district alone -- House and Senate Republicans chose to score political points on the backs of hard-working American families. Barbara Comstock waited until it was politically convenient to come out against repeal -- and VA-10 deserves better than that.

"We need to redouble our efforts to ensure that these ruthless bills never pass."

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office has found that all of the proposed ACA repeal bills result in more than 20 million additional uninsured Americans.
